I was born on 25 September 1971 in Altena, Westphalia. The baby of the family, with three much older brothers. Big brothers they remained for about 17 years. Gradually I overtook them – in height, at least …

Since 1 December 2003, I have lived on the edge of the Eifel, in the Zülpich–Jülich plain: the first ten years in Euskirchen.
Since 1 November 2014, I have lived in Jülich.
I explore the surrounding countryside by bicycle, among other things, and since 2016 by electric bike. By now, I know many spots better than the locals.
Some Rhineland customs – carnival, for instance – still feel a little foreign to me. But I really like the open, friendly manner here.
